Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It's 2009!

Lately, I've had quite a few new and different experiences and I'm becoming an adult. I've decided to begin blogging for fun and to meet other bloggers. I don't like giving out my real name over the Internet so I'm going by the name Neho Blossoms. Some part of that alias is my real name.

As a first year university student, I'm very unsure of what career I want to pursue. I've thought about becoming a doctor, an international developer, among other things but those jobs will not allow me to have the lifestyle I desire - to live in one place and not always be on-call for the hospital. I want to have children and take a few years off to raise them until they start school full-time.

This past year, many story ideas have come to mind. These ideas both excite and inspire me to get creative and I just itch to start writing. School is what holds me back from dropping everything and just concentrate on writing. It's strange because I haven't written a story for fun for years but lately, ideas just keep on coming to me. Writing full-time would be a dream come true but to tell the truth, the first and last time I've written a story on my own all the way to the end was in the second grade. I just can never finish my stories. I end up getting bored of it part way through. So becoming a writer would be unrealistic for that reason and also because writers usually don't make much of a salary and I don't want to have to rely on someone else or welfare for income.

This new year, I hope to find out how I want to live my life and what I plan on doing in the future. It's scary to be making choices in school that will affect what career I may be eligible for when I don't even have a clue of what profession I want to have. I also want to become much more organized and be able to follow through any daily task efficiently. I still haven't had my first job so I'm planning on working in the spring and be able to shoulder more responsibility.

I've given up making new year's resolutions since I never go through with them. Instead, I come up with some things I plan on experiencing in the new year.

I suppose it's easier to make a list of plans and changes I want to follow through in 2009:
  • get my first job
  • do well in school
  • get my driver's license
  • learn how to swim
  • save money for a trip to Tokyo two years from now
  • travel Canada and the US a bit in the summer
  • join a few clubs at my school
  • continue my blog and meet a few online friends
There are also some exciting things that we can look forward to seeing this year such as Barack Obama moving into the White House and taking action as President of the United States, New Moon - the follow up film for Twilight which Chris Weitz will direct (he directed the Golden Compass which was superb), and the second last Harry Potter film is coming out in the summer.
